FC Regina Supplemental Training & External Competition Policy + Info Session

Mar. 27, 2025

FC Regina is committed to supporting the holistic development of our players while maintaining alignment with our club’s philosophy and team cohesion.

To provide clarity on expectations regarding supplemental training and external competition participation, we have introduced a new Supplemental Training & External Competition Policy.

We understand that this policy may raise questions, and we want to assure our members that it is designed to address ongoing concerns while maintaining fairness, team commitment, and player development. The key points outlined above help clarify the intent behind the policy and reinforce its importance in supporting both individual and club growth:

Addressing Membership Concerns: Many members have expressed frustration about players participating with competing clubs while remaining with FC Regina. This policy provides clear guidelines to ensure fairness and commitment within our teams.

Encouraging Additional Training: Players are not restricted from seeking supplemental training with various academies or institutes in Regina. However, participation in practices or sessions with competing clubs in tournaments creates conflicts and is addressed in this policy.

Promoting Team Commitment: Players are welcome to enjoy casual soccer, but if they wish to participate in structured training or competitions with another club that directly competes against FC Regina, they need to make a clear choice about their primary commitment.

Ensuring Fairness & Development: This policy aligns with similar measures taken by other clubs, to maintain integrity, team cohesion, and player development within a structured environment.

To ensure all members have a clear understanding of this policy, we invite you to join our online information session on April 2 at 8:00 PM. This session will provide an overview of the policy, including:

Guidelines for participating in external training opportunities.

Rules regarding external games and competitions.

The exemption request process for special circumstances.

Consequences for non-compliance and how FC Regina supports player development.
