Jessica McConnell

Jessica McConnell

My name is Jessica McConnell and I am running for the position of Youth Representative at FC Regina (FCR). For most of my adult life, I have lived in Regina, where I became involved with FC Regina (FCR) in 2020 after my son joined the club. My husband also plays and coaches at FCR, and because of my family’s deep love for soccer, I have been fully immersed in the highs and lows of the soccer world. This has motivated me to seek a better understanding of how clubs operate. If elected, I would work towards fostering better communication between the board and club members, ensuring transparency in decision-making, and promoting an environment where every child is encouraged to develop their skills and reach their potential, free from bias or preferential treatment.

I believe I would be a valuable addition to the FCR Board of Directors. As a woman of colour and the child of an immigrant, I bring a unique aND diverse perspective to the board. Furthermore, I understand the financial challenges many families face when striving to provide their children with the best possible opportunities in organized sports. I would advocate for initiatives such as financial aid programs, sponsorship partnerships, and fundraising efforts to ease these burdens, while ensuring that all players, regardless of their background, have equitable access to opportunities for growth and development. My academic and professional experience has equipped me with skills in administrative coordination, strategic planning, governance, contract interpretation, and event management—all of which I can contribute to the board.

During my family’s involvement with FC Regina, I have worked diligently behind the scenes to support my husband in his coaching efforts and to assist with my son’s player development. In addition to being a dedicated cheerleader to my son’s teams, I have taken on key responsibilities, including serving as a team manager.I managed my son’s U9B soccer team during the 2024 outdoor season and have been the team manager for Team Venezuela for two years in the WCP Cup.

These roles required me to facilitate communication between coaches, parents, and the organizations, as well as to ensure that all administrative needs were met. I am confident that my fresh and inclusive perspective, combined with my experience and dedication, will be an asset to the FCR Board of Directors.
