FC Regina’s Re-open plan part 1 - Date TBD

Hello FC Regina members,

We hope that you and your families are well. I would like to applaud the efforts of each one of you, as you have followed the Saskatchewan Health Authorities guidelines on how to deal with COVID-19 and we have been successful in flattening the curve.

Phase 3 of Saskatchewan’s Re-open plan has begun on June 8. We are now only one step away from the reopening of recreation facilities scheduled for Phase 4. FC Regina is excited for the potential to get back on the field, while understanding that the safety of our members is our priority and we need to be cautious with the restart of programming.

FC Regina has been in constant communication with the Saskatchewan Soccer Association and Canada Soccer Association about any soccer related updates during this pandemic. We have been attending biweekly membership calls hosted by Saskatchewan Soccer Association. In the membership call held on May 29, 2020, a draft of The Return to Soccer Plan was presented. Taking this Return to Soccer Plan into consideration, FC Regina will be preparing our own version of return to soccer plan for our membership.

We have formed a group of members from the Youth Liaison Committee, Adult Liaison Committee, the technical staff, and office staff to prepare our plan. The group is now looking to add someone who works for the Saskatchewan Health Authority who can offer guidance with some questions regarding the various phases. If you work for the SHA and are interested in joining the FCR reopen group, you can contact FCR at tjsingh@fcregina.com.

The scheduled outdoor season has already been significantly shortened due to COVID-19. FC Regina is aiming to be ready with a viable plan to begin some form of programming as soon as the Saskatchewan Government announces the official dates for Phase 4 to begin. We will send our membership the details of what programs we can offer to both our youth and adult membership as soon as those details are ready.

A consideration to keep in mind is that even though FC Regina runs programming for both adults and youth, both programs are run very differently. We have included a short survey at the bottom of the page for the adult membership to fill out. The survey will talk about the various alternative programming options that FC Regina might be able to host for the adult membership while abiding with the Saskatchewan health guidelines and Saskatchewan Soccer Association’s 4-Phased Return to Soccer Plan. For youth programming, we will be offering our SuperStars skills academy for 8 weeks start date TBD. Academy structure will have a small group of athletes with an individual coach for each group. The athletes can either choose the program that runs twice a week or three days a week. The program might be able to accommodate small sided games instead of one of the training sessions in the near future, if the Local Health Authorities and/ or Saskatchewan Soccer Association allows us to do so. Further communication will be sent with the various soccer rules that need to be amended and the changes to game format required to resume play and be in line with the Saskatchewan Health Authorities guidelines.

As previously mentioned, the safety of our members and staff is very important to us. We have been working on a Facilities Safety Plan taking into consideration the Local Health Authorities Guidelines and Saskatchewan Soccer Associations’ Return to Soccer Plan. The facility plan will address various measures FC Regina will take to make the soccer experience safe for everyone including youth athletes, parents/ guardians, adult league players, and our staff. We request that once we resume soccer this outdoor season you please adhere to these safety measures as we all need to treat them very seriously.

Please continue to adhere to all the Saskatchewan Health Authorities guidelines in your day-to-day life. FC Regina hopes we will be together soon by staying apart now.
